Lace’s Run For Matty Raises $14k

More than $14,700 will go directly to the family of Matthew Schneider following Lacey Group’s fundraiser Lace’s Run for Matty.

Lacey Group’s Managing Director, Adam Lacey, established the fundraising event following the news in June his mate Matthew Schneider was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.

Adam ran for more than 8 hours through the Gold Coast Hinterland, completing the track called Coastal High 50 – 50km with more than 1900m of elevation – on 9th September 2022.

Matt Schneider, a 38-year-old father of three, is a prominent Gold Coast figure who shared publicly that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.

As a pillar of the local property development industry, Matthew has helped shape the Gold Coast – assisting with many projects across the city as a town planning consultant, strategic adviser and director of property consulting firm Urbis.

“Congratulations Lacey Group – what a huge personal achievement. That’s a great testament to your drive and commitment,” Matt said following the Lace’s Run for Matty event.

“A huge thanks from me and my family for the fundraising support from you and all of the sponsors. The money generously raised will be put aside for [my children] Oliver, Louis and Maggie to support them when I am no longer able to.

“That is an immensely generous gift and one for which my family and I will always be grateful and never forget. Thank you. You’re first class and I’m so proud to be a small part of the Lacey Group team.”

With the risk of bowel cancer increasing at age 45 (54% of people diagnosed with the disease being male and 46% female), Bowl Screen Australia was launched to make the screening process of bowel cancer more accessible through community pharmacies. Purchase a kit from your nearest pharmacy for approx. $42 to receive pathology analysis and result reporting. For more information, visit Bowel Cancer Australia.

“It was a gruelling event and long day out. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and was ecstatic to finally reach the finish line,” Adam said.

“I was honoured to be able to help a mate during a time of need. Matt has been a wonderful contributor to Lacey Group’s success and a good friend. I hope these funds will help Matt and his family in some small way.”
