Kirra’s best secret foodie spots

Located at the southern end of the stunning Gold Coast, Kirra offers a lifestyle like no other. A place where surfing nostalgia meets modern conveniences and makes for the ultimate beachside lifestyle.

Located within steps of the golden sands of Kirra Beach, The Del Ray is in the prime position to take advantage of this laid back way of life.

There is more to Kirra than just good surf and sunshine though. Gastronomic lovers can indulge in this once sleepy suburb, with a range of cafes and restaurants to choose from including a few hidden gems the locals don’t tell you about.

The Del Ray sales manager and Kirra local, Grant Plummer, shares some of the secrets.

“There are so many things to love about living in Kirra, but my favourite thing about living here is that I don’t need to get in my car to enjoy good food or coffee,” Mr Plummer says.

“Nothing beats a coffee form the Love Street Store and Café, located on Churchill Street, it’s hidden behind the Thai restaurant. Not only do they serve delicious coffee and food, it has a great little gift store.”

Mr Plummer says other cafes popular with locals include Mervin Roys café, just a short ride north towards Bilinga on Golden Four Drive or Bread Social on Bay Street towards the Tweed.

“Bread Social is a sneaky back street ride or walk from Coolangatta or just a 15 minute walk from The Del Ray,” he says.

Want to dine like the local pro surfers? Kirramisu Café and Restaurant is a must visit.

“If you go for Monday morning breakfast, don’t be surprised if you see local surfers and world title holders Joel Parkinson, Mick Fanning or Mark Occhilupo, or even international surf legend, Kelly Slater.”

Heading out and need your hair done before you go? Mr Plummer recommends a visit Cabello Hair and Beauty on Musgrave Street.

Head out to dinner with friends at a number of impressive restaurants now popping up along the Kirra strip, including the recently opened Siblings Kirra, located at the heritage listed Kirra Beach Pavilion, offering some of the best views on the Coast and a menu of fresh catches from land and sea; while Agave Rosa serve some of the best tacos and margaritas on the Coast.

“You can’t spend time in Kirra without dining at the famous Bread & Butter with a menu of tasty tapas and Italian fare,” Mr Plummer shares.

Conveniently situated on Miles Street, just metres from the beach, The Del Ray future residents have a lot to look forward to.
